Title: Construction Project Assistant

Work Schedule: Part time 20-30 hours per week, evening and weekend work may be required

Compensation: $12-14 per hour

Under the direction of the Housing Director and Housing Project Manager, the Construction Project Assistant will provide operational and logistical support to YNDC construction teams. These supportive functions include: tool and material inventory and maintenance; tool and material order preparation, pick up, and delivery, and other logistical support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Procure materials and supplies for construction teams. 

Prepare and place orders for supplies. o Coordinate delivery of supplies.

Pick up supplies from vendors and unload at job sites.

Inventory supplies at vendor and document all purchased supplies are present.

Ensure sufficient documentation is provided at point of pick up or delivery.

Ensure all documentation for purchases are provided in an organized fashion to the Housing Director.

2. Routinely organize, clean, inventory, and maintain equipment, supplies, and storage facilities. o Routinely update inventory databases in Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and asset management software.

3. Routinely communicate with the Housing Director regarding the inventory of stock supplies and materials. o Ensure stock supplies do not run out.

4. Maintain job site organization.

5. Routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and equipment. o Deliver vehicles and equipment for servicing as directed. o Clean and service vehicles and equipment as directed. o Routinely update vehicle management database with service and other records.

6. Ensure tax exempt accounts are established at all routine vendors.

7. Show initiative in determining and scheduling maintenance tasks that need attention.

8. Install project signs and security systems at vacant rehabilitation projects.

9. Other logistical tasks as assigned by the Housing Director and Housing Project Manager.

Requirements

 1. Valid driver’s license, own transportation (mileage reimbursement for on the job personal vehicle use will be provided), and ability to be added to YNDC vehicle insurance.

2. Ability to drive box truck, dump truck, landscaping trailers, and other equipment safely is required. CDL is NOT required.

3. Ability to lift fifty pounds and unload supplies at job site without assistance.

4. High level of organization and detail.

5. Familiarity with and ability to identify construction materials.

6. Experience using Microsoft Office Excel and Word.

7. Experience using Google functions, specifically Gmail and the Gmail calendar.

8. Strong understanding of project management and organization.

9. Ability to manage multiple projects/workloads simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

10. Ability to proactively solve problems with sound judgment and intuition.

11. High level of professional ethics.

12. Excellent written/oral communication skills and ability to utilize new technologies for communication.

13. Ability to work independently of and in collaboration with other staff of the organization.

 14. Ability to obtain EPA Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) certification.
