Thiel College is currently accepting applications for the position of Coordinator of the Office of Disability Services.

This half-time, 10-month position coordinates the College academic activities to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in disability studies, special education, or related social sciences with a focus on disability is required. Master’s degree preferred. Counseling experience also preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

● Assess eligibility for accommodations within federal and state laws

● Facilitate accommodations by working with students, faculty, staff and outside agencies

● Coordinate College policies and procedures relating to persons with disabilities, including learning disabilities, students on the autism spectrum, ADHD or other neurological conditions, physical disabilities, sensory disabilities, psychiatric disabilities, and chronic medical conditions

● Procure, maintain and review documentation for eligibility for academic accommodations

● Maintain student files pertaining to disabilities or special needs

● Provide facility training and workshops on disabilities to the College community

● Participate in orientation of new students

● Act as liaison and advocate with faculty, staff and administrators

● Assist the Associate Academic Dean with management of departmental budget


Knowledge Skill and Abilities:

● Previous experience in social sciences or related discipline

● Efficient in office procedures and current technology

● Excellent written and oral communication skills

● Exercise discretion and independent judgment

● Use tact, patience and courtesy

● Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism

● Work with confidential and sensitive information
