Mahoning County Land Bank, a nonprofit community improvement corporation, seeks an experienced, part-time Deed Specialist and Bookkeeper

The Specialist will work with the Fiscal Officer to assist with deed preparation, property transfers and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate must be a self-starting individual with reasoning ability and problem solving skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works directly with the Fiscal Officer and assists with accounts receivable.
  • Prepares purchase agreements and processes payment receipts for clients.
  • Prepares deeds to transfer ownership of real estate to and from the Land Bank.
  • Prepares required documents to complete conveyance and recording of real estate transfers.
  • Prepares purchase agreements to be sent to Land Bank clients.
  • Posts payments for real estate purchases using Land Bank database.
  • Delivers and collects deeds and conveyance documents to and from appropriate Mahoning County departments.
  • Updates Land Bank database as needed.
  • Accepts additional duties as assigned.

An individual also must possess a valid driver’s license and provide proof of automobile insurance.

Education and/or experience:

  • 1+ years’ experience as a bookkeeper in an office or professional setting;
  • 1 year experience in database entry; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use database technology, including mobile technology.
  • Ability to organize a diverse set of tasks and create an efficient daily schedule.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients, visitors and employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects at one time with all taking priority.
