Weld Supervisor who must be able to oversee the weld department of a heavy steel fabricator by supervising staff, organizing and monitoring work flow.




  • Oversees and coordinates daily welding operations in support of company goals
  • Plans ahead for equipment and materials required to support pending work orders
  • Trains welders on techniques and setups
  • Collaborates with experienced welders and production on the best approach for a job
  • Reviews instructions and assigns personnel to ensure they understand and are familiar with all requirements
  • Oversees, coordinates and documents qualifications of procedures and personnel
  • Assures the completion and accuracy of all documentation for welding and related operations
  • Ensures welding, marking and testing meet the standards of ASME/AWS or contract
  • Reviews practices and develops improvements to reduce manufacturing lead time and costs
  • Understands and adds to the creation of existing and new weld procedures
  • Checks welding equipment set up and welding techniques to ensure quality of product
  • Interprets welding schedules and specifications
  • Ensures that all weld procedures (WPS),welder’s qualification records (WPQ) are being properly used in production
  • Communicates with managers to follow project priorities
  • Assists in the hiring process of welders




  • Work well with others in a team setting to deliver high performance results
  • Must be familiar with Weld Processes FCAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW and SMAW
  • Maintain a clean, safe, environmentally friendly work environment
  • Detail oriented with organizational, documentation, procedural and reporting  skills
  • Ability to multi-task and change direction when needed
  • Be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Eager to change and promotes continuous improvement
  • The ability to effectively implement change quickly
  • Must be able to pass drug test




High School Diploma required

Must have 5+ years experience as Fabrication/Machine Shop Supervisor

Read and interpret weld symbols, technical drawings and standards

Knowledge of safety standards for equipment

Strong communications abilities and multi-tasking abilities

Experience of working with union shop is beneficial but not required

Good working knowledge of ASME, AWS and best industry practice for terminology

Ability to use Microsoft Office, Outlook and Excel
